Workspace Shelf

What it does

Register once, open straight away

Registered folders open right from the shelf, so you open far fewer Finder windows.

Stays inside what you registered

Browsing never escapes the folder you registered. Access is remembered with security-scoped bookmarks, so relaunching never asks again.

The file actions you expect

Open files, reveal in Finder, open the folder in Terminal and copy the path — plus new folder, rename, copy and paste, and move to Trash. Press Space for Quick Look, and search by name inside the current folder.

Drag straight out

Drag files from the shelf to Finder or any other app.

Download

  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later
  • Notarized by Apple, so it opens without a Gatekeeper warning
  • Open the dmg and drag Workspace Shelf to Applications

Registering folders, browsing, opening, renaming, copying, deleting, Quick Look and name search all work today. Dropping files into the shelf and workspace-wide search are still on the way.
